The Shade Gap Centennial was held in
Harper's Memorial Park
The company voted to have the Ladies
Auxiliary buy the Swan's Store building for their activities

The fire company purchased a 1955
Chevrolet van to be used as an emergency vehicle
1973
In April, the first public dinner was held
in the new Ladies Auxiliary Building Dining Hall
In June, an appreciation dinner was held
for all those who helped with the building
1975
The company received a tank truck from E.D.
Plummers of Chambersburg, PA as a donation
22 members completed a 45 hour class on
firefighting
1976
Members began construction of a second
floor to the original firehouse
1977
The second floor of the firehouse was
completed
In April, the company took delivery of our
first brand new truck, a Dodge mini-pumper with four wheel drive
and a 250 gallon water tank. The unit was built by Pierce in
Appleton Wisconsin and cost $26,000
32 members completed the American Red
Cross first aid training course
The Easter Egg Hunt in the picnic grounds
became an annual event
The Ladies Auxiliary purchased a C.B.
radio, power pack, and power mike to be used at the firehouse
1978
Shade Gap joined a central dispatch center
in Huntingdon for emergency calls, now all calls would go to a
central location, instead of coming to the firehouse, also a
base radio was placed in service at the firehouse to communicate
with the dispatch center
