FIRST DUE DWELLING
FIRE
March 20th-
At 12:07 hours, Huntingdon County dispatched the 14-6 box for a
dwelling fire on Hollow road in Dublin Township. ET-14 arrived
and found a single story dwelling heavily involved. Crews began
an exterior attack on the fire while additional units arrived.
Deputy Chief 14 arrived and assumed Command 14. Mount Union set
up the quint on side A and knocked the bulk of the fire down
with the ladder pipe. After that crew were able to move in with
handlines and start overhaul. Due to the location of the call,
access was limited and tankers had to shuttle water one by one
up the narrow driveway about half a mile to the scene, because
laying 5 inch supply line was not viable due to the elevation
and distance to the fire. After all the hot spots were taken
care of, crew then placed a heavy blanket of foam on the remains
to keep from having a rekindle. The home was a total loss. Shade
gap was assisted by crews from Orbisonia-Rockhill, Mount Union,
Three Springs, Metal Township, Fannett-Metal, Hustontown,
McConnellsburg, Pleasant Hall, and Cumberland Air 53 on scene,
and Mill Creek handled the transfer to Company 14. Company 14
returned to service at 17:47 hours.
